Biography: American singer, musician and actor Harry Connick, Jr. was born in New Orleans to two lawyers that also owned a record store. He was a prodigy at the piano, first performing in public at age 5, with the New Orleans Symphony at 9, and recording with a jazz band at 10. Connick has sold over 28 million albums worldwide. Ranked among the top 60 best-selling male artists in the United States by the Recording Industry Association of America, with 16 million in certified sales.

He has seven top-20 US albums, and ten number-1 US jazz albums, earning more number-one albums than any other artist in the US jazz chart history.

As an actor, he has appeared in films (Memphis Belle; New In Town; Hope Floats), television (Will & Grace; American Idol; Harry), and on Broadway (The Pajama Game; On a Clear Day You Can See Forever).

Connick has won three Grammy Awards, and two Emmy Awards, and been nominated for a Tony Award. He hold a U.S. Patent for a system for coordinating music display among players in an orchestra.

After Hurricane Katrina, Connick helped organize benefit concerts, and later worked with Habitat for Humanity and Branford Marsalis to build Musician's Village, an affordable housing development, in New Orleans' 9th Ward.

He has been married, since 1994, to former model Jill Goodacre.
